These bars are a perfect snack! I love to take them hiking, or have them with me any time hunger strikes! They are made with whole foods, and are vegan and gluten free, but you can even give them to your dad and he will love them! Give them a shot!
2 cups pitted dates
1 tbsp chia seeds
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp salt
2 tbsp coconut oil
3 tbsp cocoa powder
1 cup coconut flakes, or shredded coconut
3/4 cup nuts (I like walnuts)
1/2 cup chocolate chips
1.) Combine dates, vanilla, coconut oil, chia seeds and salt in a food processor. Process until dates are a paste. You can also use a blender to make these bars, as confirmed by my bestie Carly D.
2.) Add cocoa powder, coconut, and walnuts (can use any nut/seed). Process until nuts are ground up.
3.) Add in 1/2 cup chocolate chips and pulse to mix them in.
4.) Have a brownie sheet/walled baking sheet ready, dump the mixture in, and press the mixture into the pan. Cut into squares, and place in the freezer to store!
